Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I make a booking?

You can book your private charter here by paying a 50 % deposit. The remaining 50 % is due on the day of the excursion, before boarding, by card or in cash. You can also pay the full amount at the time of booking.

2. How is the route decided (North or South)?

The route depends on the duration of the charter (4 or 8 hours) and on sea and weather conditions. Our skippers check the forecast the day before and choose the most suitable area to ensure a calm and enjoyable experience. Departing from the Port of Mahón allows us to select the best route every day.

3. What is included in the price?

All charters include:

  • VAT
  • Professional skipper
  • Fuel
  • Local produce aperitif
  • Complimentary cold drinks
  • Paddleboard
  • Tempered glass snorkel equipment
  • Bose Bluetooth speaker
  • Sundeck, cushions and upholstery
  • Full tableware
  • Electric cooler and Coleman cooler
  • Final cleaning

4. What does the local produce aperitif include?

A light tasting of Menorcan and Mallorcan products: Mahón cheese, carn-i-xua, breadsticks, almonds, olives and quince jelly. It is a small welcome bite to discover the flavours of Menorca, not a full meal.

5. What cold drinks are included?

The cooler will be stocked with complimentary drinks: beer, white wine, Coca-Cola and Aquarius.

6. What should I bring to the excursion?

We recommend bringing:

  • Swimwear
  • Towel
  • Sun protection (sunscreen, hat, sunglasses)
  • Light clothing
  • Phone or camera

7. Can we bring our own food and drinks?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own snacks and drinks. We also offer a range of catering options on request, with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free alternatives. If you arrange catering, please check the conditions that apply if the trip is cancelled on the day.

8. How does the cancellation policy work?

More than 30 days in advance Full refund of the amount paid.
Between 8 and 30 days in advance Refund of the amount paid minus 10 % of the total charter price, regardless of how much you have paid.
7 days or fewer in advance No refund. In the event of illness, cancelled flights or other serious circumstances, we will assess each request individually upon receipt of the relevant documentation. These situations do not entitle you to an automatic refund; we will let you know the outcome of your case.

Cancellations due to bad weather and those made by Menorca en Llaut have specific conditions. Please read our full cancellation policy, including the catering condition if the trip is cancelled on the day.

9. What happens if the weather is bad?

Our skippers check the forecast and sea conditions to choose the most suitable route along the north or south coast. The decision on the safety of the trip always rests with the skipper.

If sea conditions make it impossible to sail along either coast, we will offer you a trip through the inner harbour of Mahón. Its sheltered waters allow us to enjoy the llaut when conditions outside the harbour are not suitable, and to discover from the water a natural harbour with a very special charm. This alternative is voluntary and will only take place with your agreement.

If you prefer not to go out on the harbour, we will try to reschedule the excursion. If rescheduling is not possible, we will refund the full amount paid, minus, where applicable, the catering amount according to the conditions set out below. For full details, see our full cancellation policy.

10. What happens to the catering if the trip is cancelled on the day?

Catering is prepared to order for each booking and cannot be cancelled on the day.

For this reason, if the trip is cancelled on that day due to bad weather or other circumstances beyond Menorca en Llaut's control that prevent it from taking place, the full amount of the contracted catering will be deducted from the refund due to the client.

This condition applies only to catering contracted as an extra, not to the aperitif included in the charter.

11. Can children come on board?

Yes, families with children are very welcome. Our boats are stable and comfortable, and we have life jackets for the little ones. Please let us know their ages when booking.

12. Can I book at the last minute?

Yes, as long as we have availability. You can call or message us on WhatsApp. During high season we recommend booking in advance.

13. Do you only offer private charters?

Yes. All our experiences are completely private: the boat and skipper are exclusively for your group.

14. Do I need sailing experience?

Not at all. All charters include a professional skipper so you can simply relax and enjoy.

15. Where do we depart from?

All charters depart from the Port of Mahón, the largest natural harbour in Europe and the ideal starting point for sailing along the North or South coast.

16. Can you help with special requests?

Yes, we can help with celebrations, catering, transfers and much more. We will do our best to make your Menorca experience truly special.

17. What time do the charters depart?

The departure time depends on your booking (4 or 8 hours). We confirm the exact time at the moment of booking.

18. Can we use the snorkel and paddleboard during the trip?

Absolutely. All equipment is included so you can enjoy snorkelling and paddle boarding in some of Menorca's most beautiful coves.

19. How can I pay for the charter?

Bookings made through the website require a 50 % deposit. The remaining 50 % is due on the day of the charter, before boarding, in cash or by card.

20. What time does the excursion start?

The morning charter and the full-day charter depart at 10:00. The afternoon charter departs at 15:00.

21. Have the llauts been restored? What makes them special?

Yes. All our llauts have been restored by expert caulker carpenters specialised in traditional boat building. Every winter we take them out of the water for full maintenance at our facilities to ensure comfort, safety and aesthetics on every trip.

Our Cancellation Policy

1. If you cancel your booking

More than 30 days in advance Full refund of the amount paid.
Between 8 and 30 days in advance Refund of the amount paid minus 10 % of the total charter price, regardless of how much you have paid.
7 days or fewer in advance, including the day of departure No refund.

In the event of illness, cancelled flights or other serious circumstances, we will assess each request individually upon receipt of the relevant documentation. These situations do not entitle you to an automatic refund; we will let you know the outcome of your case.

If you wish to change the date or cancel your booking, please contact us as soon as possible:

2. If the weather is bad

We follow the AEMET maritime forecast and the skipper's professional judgement. We assess wind, swell and navigation conditions to choose the most suitable route along the north or south coast.

We consider conditions unsuitable in the planned area when:

  • Waves exceed 1.5 m
  • Wind exceeds 22 knots
  • Heavy rain is forecast for more than 20 % of the trip
  • Or conditions the skipper considers unsafe or clearly uncomfortable

Light rain or local showers without wind or swell issues are not, on their own, grounds for cancellation.

If sea conditions make it impossible to sail along either coast, we will offer you a trip through the inner harbour of Mahón. Its sheltered waters make it our usual alternative to save the day and enjoy the llaut and the charm of this natural harbour. This alternative is voluntary and requires your agreement. The skipper retains full authority over navigation safety at all times.

If you prefer not to go out on the harbour, we will try to reschedule the excursion. If rescheduling is not possible, we will refund 100 % of the amount paid, with no administrative charges, except for any catering amount to be deducted in accordance with section 4.

3. If we have to cancel

If Menorca en Llaut has to cancel the trip, we will notify you as soon as possible. We will offer you:

  • A similar vessel, if available
  • A change of date
  • Or a full refund of 100 % of the amount paid

The only exception is catering when the cancellation occurs on the day due to circumstances beyond the company's control (weather or other external causes), as detailed in section 4. The catering deduction does not apply to cancellations caused by mechanical failures or other incidents attributable to Menorca en Llaut.

4. Catering in same-day cancellations

Catering is prepared to order for each booking and cannot be cancelled on the day. If the trip is cancelled on that day due to bad weather or other circumstances beyond Menorca en Llaut's control that prevent it from taking place, the full amount of the contracted catering will be deducted from the refund due to the client.

This condition applies only to catering contracted as an extra, not to the aperitif included in the charter.

5. Changes and refunds

To request a change or cancellation, please contact us at info@menorcaenllaut.com or on WhatsApp at +34 667 903 557. Refunds are processed to the original payment method within 7 to 10 business days, subject to bank processing times.
